Accommodations

The Portneuf RV Park

Portneuf Medical Center includes a very special, free RV Park specifically for Portneuf patients & families, and visitors of patients. It is designed for those families who will need to be at Portneuf Medical Center for multiple nights and have their own RV. There are six paved, full hook up sites with picnic tables, grass, and trees. All families of Portneuf Medical Center patients are welcome to stay at the RV Park, however, priority is given to guests of our Cancer Center, NICU, ICU, and Emergency Department patients. A maximum of 5 nights is allowed, however, longer stays are allowed if space is available.

How to Reserve an RV Spot

Visitors wishing to reserve an RV spot should ask the case manager, nurse, or Director of the floor where the patient is receiving care for instructions on making a reservation. Patient name and room number must be verified to qualify the stay at the RV Park. Reservations can be made Monday–Friday, 9:00am–2:00pm. Guests arriving after 2:00pm, nights, weekends, or holidays, should call security 208-244-4279 for assistance. This is a full hook-up facility and also includes free shuttle and valet service Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm. Please call 208-244-4279 for a ride to the Cancer Center or the main hospital. More information on the RV park can be found in our RV Park Booklet. While there is no cost to stay at the RV Park, donations can be made to the Cancer Patient Assistance Fund or the Portneuf Medical Center Patient Assistance Fund. These funds help support other patients with gas, food, daycare, and other necessary daily living expenses and services while they are receiving treatment here. A pre-addressed donation envelope can be found in the registration packet.

Portneuf’s Guest House is available for patients and family members who are from out of town and need a place to stay during treatments. Our accommodations are comfortable and located within about a two miles from Portneuf. Cloud 9 Gift Shop
Cloud-9 logo

Cloud 9 Gift Shop, located on the first floor, offers a wide array of flowers, greeting cards, jewelry and other thoughtful gift items for patients and visitors of all ages. There’s nothing like flowers or balloons (only Mylar) to lift someone’s spirit. Visitors should check with the nurse before bringing gifts to patients. Please note, flowers are not allowed our Intensive Care Unit, except at the nurses’ station. Also, be mindful of taking food or beverages to patients as some are on a restricted diet and others many have food allergies.

Hospital volunteers staff the store and all proceeds go toward community health projects and scholarships, so you can feel good that you are donating to a worthy cause.

Need Flowers or a Gift Delivered?  Call us 208-239-1156. A Gift Shop Volunteer will be delighted to help you shop over the phone and then deliver your gift to your loved one or staff member anywhere within the hospital free of charge. Orders received by noon will be delivered on the same day. Orders received after noon will be delivered either the same day or the next morning.

Latex Free Facility – due to the potential for latex allergies on the part of guests and staff, only Mylar balloons are permitted in the facility.

Visiting Hours and Waiting Areas

From coffee and food services to inviting spaces to sit and relax, our amenities are here to make your visit as comfortable as possible. We have comfortable waiting areas available on all patient floors.

For Surgical Patients we ask that friends and family members wait in the surgical waiting area on the first floor. The surgical staff will keep you informed and your physician will contact you there when surgery is over.

Visiting Hours – Our patient and family centered care welcomes visitors at all times, however, there are some areas in the hospital and based on patient preferences that have limited visitation hours to help aid in the patient’s recovery. We ask that you respect the visitation guidelines unless discussed previously with the patient’s care team. Please keep the following guidelines in mind during your visit.

  • Please do not visit patients if you are sick with a cold, flu or anything else that could be contagious.
  • Portneuf is a smoke-free campus.
  • Dress appropriately. Shirt and shoes must be worn in the hospital at all times.
  • Be considerate of other patients. Please maintain a quiet environment and avoid unnecessary noise.
  • Visits should not interfere with patient treatments. Physicians or nurses may ask visitors to leave the room during tests or treatments.
  • Patients often have special dietary needs. Please check with the nurse before bringing or giving the patients food or beverages.
  • Patient restrooms are for use by patients only. There are public restrooms throughout the hospital for visitors; these are primarily located near patient floor waiting rooms.

Patient rooms can comfortably accommodate two visitors at a time. When there are several visitors, please use the patient/visitor lounges in each area as these areas can more easily accommodate larger groups.
